We do not need to await the results of the Monday Night NFL this week — our semifinal playoffs are over, and the top two seeds will advance to play in our 29th championship game.
The Chicago Mud (10-3) will face the Philadelphia Griffins (9-4) in Fantasy Bowl XXIX. The Mud advance by means of a solid 90-63 win over Happy Valley, while the Griffins held on for a tight 2.5-point over Boxboro, 87.5-85.
Both our finalists are seeking their franchise’s fifth championship (Chicago has 2 wins as the Mud and 2 as the Riot! in the 1990s), which will tie the Blowfish franchise who has a record five Fantasy Bowl championships. The Griffins and Mud also have the most appearances in the title game: this will be a record 11th Fantasy Bowl appearance for the Griffins, while it’s the 8th trip to the title game for the Mud/Riot franchise.
There will be two consolation games this week as well: Happy Valley will face off against Boxboro for third place overall, and New Chester vs. Orange County will determine 5th/6th place.
